Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus

January 3rd is the optional feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. Also, the month of January is dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus. I have posted the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus below. The prayer is in regular, italic and bold font. If said by more than one person, the regular font is for the prayer leader and the italic is the response for the others. Welcome Papa!

Tomorrow Pope Francis will be in the United States. I pray that he has a safe trip. I also pray for the safety of all the people who are making a pilgrimage to visit him. I am very excited for his visit! I wonder what he will think of our country. This is the first time he will be visiting the United States, not only as the pope, but this is the first time he has been ever to the U.S., ever. I’ve been to Buenos Aires and I felt that I was inside the looking glass. It looks and…

Poland’s President-Elect Rescues Host

During Poland’s Thanksgiving Day, thousands took part in an open air Holy Mass in Warsaw. Many government officials attended this Holy Mass including President-Elect Andrzej Sebastian Duda. During Holy Communion a wind blew one of the consecrated Hosts to the ground. The Host rolled until it landed in front of President-Elect Andrzej Duda. Saving the Host from desecration, Duda rushed up and grabbed the Host. He then took the Holy Host and handed it over to Cardinal Nycz, who was celebrating the Mass. This story/event gives me hope. I pray for the leaders of the world that they govern according…

Palm Sunday Afternoon Blues

On Palm Sunday morning Mass we celebrate Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. By the afternoon, I feel a sense of deep sorrow. Partly, I think I feel this sadness because I know by the week’s end; Jesus will be led out for His crucifixion. Also, I think it has to do with the way the world is moving and how our freedom of religion is being threatened. My Palm Sunday blues really started the year after the Obama administration released a report from Homeland Security that named Pro-lifers and Veterans as potential terrorist threats. Next it was the HHS mandate…

Celebrating the Feast of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque

“The Spirit of God does all things in peace. Let us have recourse to God with love and confidence, and He will receive us into the arms of His mercy.” – St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690) One of the perks of being Catholic is getting to know and love the saints that became before us. Not that I’m a saint, far from it but, God willing, I hope to be some day. Right now, I fail miserably on a daily basis. Wait… who am I kidding, I fail many times on an hourly basis. Fortunately for us, God’s mercy, forgiveness…
