The Tale of Two Want Ads

In Chicago I recently came across two want ads, one was hiring people to promote the Republican candidate and the other to fighting against the Republican candidate. If you want to know why so many Americans are angry, it is because they are sick of special interest groups using lies, fear and bullying to steal our freedoms away.

Progressives/ Democrats continually sell fear and hate to get votes. I know this statement sounds laughable since Trump came on the scene, but remember he is coming from the Democrat party. I’m not sure if he really is a Republican now or not. It just seems that Trump, like most the rest of us, is sick of the special interests, progressives and inflated government. People are tired of the Progressive agenda steam rolling over our freedoms. Although I really don’t understand the Trump phenomenon and the GOP is trying very hard to distance themselves from him.

The Progressive ad is by a nonprofit called Grassroot Campaigns. Even the name of the company is a lie. Paid protestors from special interest groups are not “grassroot”, they are part of “astroturfing”. If you have never heard of the term “astroturfing”, Wikipedia explains it this way

“Astroturfing is the practice of masking the sponsors of a message or organization (e.g., political, advertising, religious or public relations) to make it appear as though it originates from and is supported by grassroots participant(s). It is a practice intended to give the statements or organizations credibility by withholding information about the source’s financial connection. The term astroturfing is derived from AstroTurf, a brand of synthetic carpeting designed to resemble natural grass, as a play on the word “grassroots.” The implication behind the use of the term is that there are no “true” or “natural” grassroots, but rather “fake” or “artificial” support, although some astroturfing operatives defend the practice.”

The anti-Republican want ad has claims that are so ridiculous, I’m not going to waste my time explaining how each one is false. However, if you believe the lies they are peddling I suggest you try to diversify your media outlets.

I have added the content of want ads below. See for yourself the difference in tone.

Grassroots Campaigns is a campaign group that specializes in canvassing for progressive nonprofits and candidates.

We’ve seen enormous progress over the last seven years, from the largest expansion of healthcare access in over 100 years to marriage equality being the law of the land in all 50 states.

However, there’s still a lot to do, and we have an uphill fight in front of us.

The Republican and Conservative agenda is threatening to turn back the clock on women’s reproductive rights. If their extremist candidates are elected this November, we can expect more racist, anti-immigrant policy, more laws aimed at making it harder for poor people and minorities to vote, and a halt to meaningful attempts to curb global climate change.

Grassroots Campaigns is running national campaigns to advance progressive issues like employment non-discrimination, equal rights, and environmental protections, and this fall we’ll be running massive voter contact programs in key races across the country to ensure that we keep the White House in the right hands and elect better, more progressive leaders at every level of government.

To do this, we need your help!

Grassroots is hiring smart, politically motivated people to come on board as Canvass Directors and Assistant Canvass Directors, launching and leading new campaign offices all across the country. Take on enormous responsibility, while running the campaigns that make the difference!

Currently filling positions in MA, NY, PA, DC, NC, IL, LA, MO, TX IA, CO, WA, CA.

We’re considering applicants for new campaigns in FL, MI, OH, NH, MN, WI, NM, and AZ, with training beginning immediately.

We’ll be visiting your city to conduct one on one interviews within the next two weeks. Apply now for the opportunity to meet with one of our team members.
